BIS Program
The Interdisciplinary Studies program at Arizona State University is a new type of degree offered. This program allows
students to concentrate on two areas of discipline rather than the one discipline major.
I chose to enter this program because I wanted to merge two areas of study into one major. Thus, I combined the disciplines
of marketing and mass communication into my interdisciplinary degree. With this degree, I feel more confident with each discipline
and can offer the best of each.
By taking the Interdisciplinary core classes, I have become a more well-rounded, more knowledgeable individual with a
lot to offer. I have taken core classes including Foundations of Interdisciplinary Studies, Interdisciplinary Inquiry, and
a Senior Seminar.
These classes have helped prepare me for life after graduation and working within an interdisciplinary career.
